Trieu: Michigan football to welcome 5-star Joshua Dobson for visit

Michigan football does not have a big list of official visitors this weekend, as the bulk of remaining visitors are coming to campus next week for Victors Weekend.

It's quality over quantity, though, as five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson and four-star edge Ifeanyi Emedobi come to town.

Dobson is a Rivals Industry five-star and Rivals’ No. 2 cornerback in the country. He has prototypical size at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, and ran 4.39 in the 40 at an Under Armour camp, where the results are laser-timed. He also displayed excellent change of direction, running a 4.36 shuttle at the same event. On the track, he has run as fast as 10.78 in the 100-meter dash.

Texas A&M, which Dobson visited last weekend, is predicted to be the school to land him. Auburn, LSU, South Carolina and others are still trying. That Michigan is the lone Big Ten school to get him on any kind of visit the last few months is a testament to the work the staff has done.

Wolverine coaches stopped at Dobson’s high school, William Amos Hough in Cornelius, North Carolina, twice in the spring. Dobson and his family say Michigan’s consistent contact and the honesty of the staff are reasons they are giving the Wolverines a serious look. Dobson has spoken with head coach Kyle Whittingham on the phone, but this will be his first opportunity to get on campus and meet Whittingham in person.

Dobson is planning to choose a school in early July.

Emedobi is also planning to pick a school in early July, but his timeline could be changing. He already moved his Michigan official from June 19 to this weekend. Next weekend is now vacant.

Penn State and Minnesota currently stand as his other options, but Michigan leads on his Rivals predictions.

Emedobi is a 6-foot-2, 210-pound pass rusher with 4.4 40 speed and explosive athletic qualities.

Despite last season being his first in football, Emedobi is rated a four-star prospect.

Michigan set to host in-state QBs for camp

Michigan will have their Big Man Camp and a Skills Camp on June 16.

Among the notable recruits coming in hoping to impress the staff are in-state quarterbacks Brayden Tillman and Drew Sheridan.

Both are rising juniors. Tillman is a 6-foot-4, 180-pound prospect from Traverse City West. He is a very good athlete who runs 4.5 in the 40, and has earned a handful of offers from Mid-American Conference programs, but Big Ten schools have been giving him a close look.

Sheridan won a state title last season at Divine Child. He is efficient, accurate and recently measured in 6-foot-2 at camps, important for his recruitment, as schools have wanted to see how he physically develops. Penn State, Pittsburgh, and several MAC programs have offered.
