The Las Vegas Raiders almost traded away their golden child this offseason. Now, he's with the team. The Ravens were set to give up two first-round picks-one in 2027 and the No. 14 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Reports say Maxx Crosby did not pass his physical in Baltimore. He's only used that since as fuel. Regardless, he's opened up about his injury and recovery process thus far. Crosby has never really opened up as much as he did on Wednesday.
#Raiders DE Maxx Crosby: "This has been the longest road to recovery I have ever been through. But it's probably the best one I've ever done."

Sounds like Crosby is feeling great.
"It’s probably been the longest rehab I’ve been through, but ultimately it’s probably been the best by far, to be completely honest, and we’re not even to the finish line. There are so many people I could mention in that category, from Rick Slate to Joselyne [Tobar] that I work with every day, and it goes on, and on, Drew Grant, so many people in general that have helped me during this process, and I give them a lot of credit.
"I’m real close, but I’m at that point where it’s like I forget. I’m at the point where I’m almost there, but I forget to relax a little bit. So that’s kind of been the biggest battle right now because I’m almost back to being out there.”
Hearing him talk about how close he is has to be comforting for Klint Kubiak and Rob Leonard. This is the best player on your team, the poster child for what it means to be a Raider. And, he's the guy who brings all the energy.
Maxx Crosby talks about participating in OTAs despite not being fully healthy yet
He's very close, and appears to be right on schedule, if not ahead of it. Crosby has attended every OTAs practice despite not being able to participate. Why? Well, it means something more to him.
“Yeah, I mean, I’m a leader by nature," Crosby told reporters on Wednesday. "The guys need to see me; I want to be out there and be a part of the team. I just want to be one of the guys. I don’t do it because I’m trying to be extra or anything like that; Love what I do and playing football. Just being on the field, like that’s my whole world.
"And being able to do the stretches with the guys is something that I think is important, and just being around the dudes, just getting better. I feel like it helps the team in general and just brings energy as we get the day rolling, but it’s been really cool."
The Raiders have had a successful OTAs period this offseason. They are in their third week of OTAs, while the Chiefs are in their second, and the Broncos are just starting. They are getting to work early and often, and a big reason is the influence Crosby still has on the team, even when he can't fully participate.
