Baik coached the 2016 Chino Hills team led by star brothers Lonzo, LaMelo and LiAngelo Ball to a perfect 35-0 record and the CIF-State Open Division title.

“Coach (Baik) had reached out to us with some interest,” Calabasas athletic director Thomas Cassidy told The Star. “We set up a couple of interviews and he blew us away. Obviously, the track record speaks for itself. … Finding a coach with this background and resume, to have that opportunity is huge.”

Baik was the Naismith National High School Coach of the Year, the USA Today National High School Coach of the Year and CIF Coach of the Year in 2016.

More recently, Baik coached Fairfax High to an L.A. City Section Championship in 2019, earning City Section Coach of the Year honors. He won three titles in the Western League while at Fairfax.

Baik will take over from longtime Calabasas coach Jon Palarz, who stepped down at the end of last season.
