Jets WR Adonai Mitchell continues building momentum at OTAs

The New York Jets continued to build an offensive identity at their latest Organized Team Activity (OTAs) practice. One of the big winners from the latest session was wide receiver Adonai Mitchell. Mitchell continues to impress.
Michell displayed his impressive separation skills while catching two passes from starting quarterback Geno Smith during 7-on-7 drills, ESPN.

Mitchell made a few diving catches while highlighting his compete-level in practice. Sports Illustrated also noted that Mitchell out-positioned cornerback Nahshon Wright for a diving catch early in the practice session.
The Jets acquired Mitchell at the trade deadline last year in the deal with the Indianapolis Colts involving Sauce Gardner. Mitchell flashed for the Jets, recording 24 receptions for 301 yards and two touchdowns in eight games. He's now undergoing his first full offseason with the East Rutherford-based club.
Wide receiver Garrett Wilson is the Jets' unquestioned WR1. Mitchell currently projects as second option on offense, and he's practicing himself into earning that role. Rookie first-round pick Omar Cooper Jr. is attempting to apply pressure for that role, but Mitchell has just been so impactful at practice thus far.
Mitchell was considered somewhat of a throw-in during the Gardner-Colts trade negotiations. The 2024 second-round pick may prove to be significantly more than that. Mitchell is capturing a big-time role in offensive coordinator Frank Reich's offense through his practice showings at OTAs.
