Tech’s bench getting hype for Alex Hernandez at the plate | GTAA

#2 Georgia Tech baseball has advanced to the regional final after defeating Oklahoma xx-xx. The win is Tech’s 50th of the season, making 2026 their first 50+ win season since 2006. At a 50-9 record Tech has set the best 59 game mark in program history.

The story of the weekend has become Parker Brosius. After hitting a homer yesterday, he hit two 2-run homers tonight, both to give Tech two run leads in the 2nd and 6th innings. Since graduating earlier this month, he’s hit nine home runs, more than doubling his career total he had coming into May.

After Brosius’ 6th inning homer, Tech added four runs in the 7th inning off a bases loaded walk, a 2-RBI single by Alex Hernandez, and a RBI sacrifice fly by Will Baker. The game was interrupted by weather for 62 minutes in the inning. The game resumed just shy of 11 p.m. Baker’s RBI came after the delay.

Xander Mercurius pitched well for Oklahoma, going 5.2 IP with 8 strikeouts. He allowed five runs but four of them came from Parker Brosius home runs, who no pitcher on planet earth can currently stop. Xander’s high 90’s fastball mixed well with his low 80’s off speed pitches getting lots of swings and misses. Even though Tech was leading by the time he exited the game, it was not a stress free 5.2 innings for Tech at the plate.

On Tech’s side, Tate McKee went 6.0 IP, also with 8 strikeouts and a season high 104 pitches. McKee ended up in a bunch of deep counts, but in clutch moments in the 1st and 6th innings managed to escape potential danger with runners in scoring position.

Caden Gaudette, and Dylan Loy pitched in relief. Tech expanding the lead to six runs in the 7th was enough to save Mason Patel for a potential appearance in the regional final.
