The season is over – but transfer season has only just started. From now until September there’s going to be endless speculation about what is set to be a very busy summer for Chelsea.

One story that is going to dominate proceedings is around Joao Pedro’s future. The striker is being heavily linked with Barcelona, and Chelsea are briefing heavily the other way.

Chelsea insist Joao Pedro not for sale at any price

Ben Jacobs is the latest insider to come out with a line from inside Chelsea that there’s no way we’re going to sell the striker, who arrived last summer and ended up winning the player of the year award.

“Although Barcelona’s interest in Joao Pedro is genuine, and some exploratory talks have taken place, Chelsea are not prepared to sell,” Jacobs Tweeted today.

“There is no price that will change the club’s stance this summer, even a world-record bid.”

It’s a bold claim to make, especially for a club that is expected to have some financial difficulties now that the Champions League is off the table.
