Alumni update: Hayfield's Fritcher and Austin's Shute are stepping up in the college ranks

Apr. 27— Hayfield grad Easton Fritcher delivered his biggest hit as a Tommie when he drilled a three-run homer in the ninth inning to boost St. Thomas to an 18-12 win against the Omaha Mavericks in Omaha, Neb.

Fritcher is hitting .221 with four homers, five doubles, two triples and 20 RBIs in his second year with Saint Thomas after he transferred to the school after a two-year stint with the Minnesota Gophers.

The Tommies are now 9-29 overall.

Austin grad Marissa Shute recently competed in the Kip Janvrin Open at Simpson College for the Western Illinois track and field team.

Shute had the fastest time in the 1500-meter run for the Leathernecks as she placed 55th with a time of 5:14.19.

Blooming Prairie grad Macy Lembke has appeared in 27 games this season at Gustavus Adolphus. Lembke is hitting .143 with three RBIs and five runs scored.

The Gusties are 17-17 overall.
