The New York Knicks are now 3-2 up against the Atlanta Hawks. It has been a tough series for the Knicks, but Karl-Anthony Towns has been a steady player for New York. Not only is he scoring, but also serving as a playmaker.

In Game 5, the Knicks had a fantastic performance, winning 126 to 97. Towns had a well-rounded night with 16 points, 14 rebounds, six assists, two steals, and two blocks. The assists in particular stood out because he was distributing the ball well.

Karl-Anthony Towns on why he loves b being a playmaker for New York

The 2025-26 season has been a rough one for Towns because he mostly played with an undefined role under head coach Mike Brown. He still had good numbers, but it was a rougher campaign compared to his first season in New York.

Jalen Brunson is the clear superstar in New York, but he needs help from his teammates. Thankfully, he has Towns as his co-star, and the rest of the team has solid chemistry with each other.

Towns relishes the opportunities he is given, especially with the playmaking reps he has received. Moving forward, Towns will continue to love to make his teammates better with his passes.

"I love when you get your teammates involved. It's a special thing when you see teammates succeeding and elevating their game. Just being a component of that, it's an honor," Towns said after the Game 5 victory.

Of course, the series is not over because Towns and the Knicks are set to visit Atlanta to play a close-out game. It will be a challenge, but the way they are playing should showcase how the Knicks can carry over the momentum into the second round.
