The Gators have landed a commitment from Cardinal Mooney quarterback Davin Davidson, who announced his commitment on April 9. He named the Gators over Auburn, Georgia, and Kentucky.
Davidson (6-foot-7, 215 pounds) has rapidly ascended to the top signal-caller in the Sunshine State. A dominant camp circuit saw him reel in over two dozen offers after the Elite 11 regionals and Rivals Elite camp in Miami. He enters the spring season ranked as a composite 4-star, the No. 13 QB in the nation, and No. 15 overall player in the state (247Sports Composite).
He led the Cougars to a 14-1 season and Class 2A championship in his first year as the full time starter. He finished his junior campaign with 2,360 passing yards and 23 touchdowns with six interceptions on a 65-percent completion rate.
Davidson is just the fifth commitment this cycle for Sumrall & Co., but the pledges have been top-heavy for the Gators. They added a commitment from offensive tackle Maxwell Hiller on April 8, a 5-star out of Pennsylvania and the No. 1 OT in the nation.
Also committed is American Heritage cornerback Amare Nugent, a composite 4-star and No. 15 CB in the country. Cottondale's Tramond Collins, a composite 4-star, committed to Florida in March over his hometown Florida State Seminoles and others.
