The Boston Celtics have already locked down the second seed in the Eastern Conference for the NBA Playoffs. As such, they are taking Sunday night’s tip-off against the Orlando Magic as an opportunity to rest some of the team’s best players.

As it stands, 24 hours before tip-off, the Celtics have placed seven players on the preliminary injury report.

They are taking no chances with their three biggest names, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Derrick White, who have already been ruled “out.” Also joining the inactives is center Neemias Queta. Of the three, Quetta’s designation carries the most weight as he continues to battle a right toe sprain.

Three other key contributors join the four starters on the injury report. Sam Hauser is “doubtful” with back spasms. Payton Pritchard is also doubtful with a left foot injury. And Nikola Vucevic rounds out the injury report with an interesting “Finger Fracture Management” designation.

Five of the eight Eastern Conference seeds are already set in stone, and it would take a pretty bizarre set of circumstances to shake up the final three seeds. So Celtics fans don’t have too much to look out for in the final day of the NBA regular season. But if they needed another horse in the race, they could scout out a potential first-round matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers as they play the tanking Milwaukee Bucks.
