SEC Spring Football Power Rankings

· Yahoo Sports

National Signing Day is in the rear view mirror, the transfer portal movement is mostly over. Spring practice is well underway. We have a good idea of the players and coaches that will make up the rosters in the SEC for the 2026 season. So where does each SEC football team stand this spring?

There are four new coaches in the league this season. There are a lot of stars that are headed to the NFL and a lot of stars that changed programs. Some teams like Texas have loaded up. Some like Arkansas are basically starting over.

Visit newsbetting.bond for more information.

Texas has been at or near the top of the SEC since the Longhorns joined the league. And the Longhorns have gone all in on the 2026 season with big name (and big money) transfers.

Can Texas unseat Georgia? Will the Aggies finally in the conference? Will Ole Miss take a step back now that Lane Kiffin is gone? Will LSU be better under Kiffin? Are OU and Alabama going in opposite directions?

Here's our Spring Football SEC Power Rankings:

16. Arkansas Razorbacks

2025 Record: 2-10 (0-8 in SEC)

Analysis: New coach Ryan Silverfield has his work cut out for him. Much of the Hogs' offense is untested and the defense allowed 33.8 points a game last season. Arkansas fans better hope QB KJ Jackson developes quickly or the Razorbacks will be brining up the SEC rear.

Arkansas Razorbacks 2026 Schedule

15. Mississippi State Bulldogs

Analysis: Hail State is making a little progress under coach Jeff Lebby. The Bulldogs didn't finish last in the SEC in 2025 and they won't in 2026. They'll finish second to last.

2025 Record: 7-6 (3-5 in SEC)

Mississippi State Bulldogs 2026 Schedule

14. Auburn Tigers

Analysis: New coach Alex Golesh and new QB Byrum Brown both come from South Florida hoping to revive the Tigers into a relevant progra again. It won't be easy or quick and War Eagle might take a step back first.

2025 Record: 5-7 (1-7 in SEC)

Auburn Tigers 2026 Schedule

13. Vanderbilt Commodores

2025 Record: 10-3 (6-2 in SEC)

Analysis: With the departure of quarterback Diego Pavia, Vandy will take a step back this season. The Commodores do have five-star QB Jared Curtis coming in next season. But he will be pretty green. Most of the offense needs to be rebuilt.

Vanderbilt Commodores 2026 Schedule

12. Kentucky Wildcats

Analysis: The Wildcats also have a new coach in Will Stein and a new QB in Notre Dame transfer Kenny Minchey. UK also has a new running back in former Longhorn CJ Baxter. Kentucky has only won three games in the past two seasons.

2025 Record: 5-7 (2-6 in SEC)

Kentucky Wildcats 2026 Schedule

11. Missouri Tigers

Analysis: Mizzou had a good defense in 2025, which was enough for a middle of the pack finish. Tigers fans are hoping Ole Miss transfer QB Austin Simmon can stabilize the offense.

2025 Record: 8-5 (4-4 in SEC)

Missouri Tigers 2026 Schedule

10. Tennessee Volunteers

Analysis: The Vols seem to be going backwards under Josh Heupel. An unsettled QB position doesn't help things for 2026. George MacIntyre and Faizon Brandon will battle for the starting QB job. Picking the right starting signal caller could make or break the Vols season.

2025 Record: 8-5 (4-4 in SEC)

Tennessee Volunteers 2026 Schedule

9. South Carolina Gamecocks

Analysis: South Carolina has flashes of breaking through to the upper level of the SEC. The Gamecocks will get the occasional upset, but ultimately they are a perennial middle of the pack program.

2025 Record: 8-5 (4-4 in SEC)

South Carolina Gamecocks 2026 Schedule

8. Florida Gators

Analysis: The Gators should be better under new coach Jon Sumrall, who took Tulane to the college football playoff. The Gators have good players on offense in RB Jaden Baugh and WR Eric Singleton.

2025 Record: 4-8 (2-6 in SEC)

Florida Gators 2026 Schedule

7. Alabama Crimson Tide

Analysis: The Crimson Tide are slipping under coach Kalen Deboer. It's not like Bama is bad. They were 7-1 in the SEC last year. But Alabama also had 4 losses. It used to take three years for the Tide to get three loses.

2025 Record: 4-8 (2-6 in SEC)

Alabama Crimson Tide 2026 Schedule

6. Ole Miss Rebels

Analysis: Lane Kiffen is gone. QB Trinidad Chambliss is gone. Ole Miss won't fall off a cliff, but it's hard to imagine the Rebels having the same kind of success in 2026.

2025 Record: 13-2 (7-1 in SEC)

Ole Miss Rebels 2026 Schedule

5. Oklahoma Sooners

Analysis: It took Brent Venables a few years to get OU to being competitive in the SEC. But with QB John Mateer returning, the Sooners offense should compliment the defense in 2026.

2025 Record: 10-3 (6-2 in SEC)

Oklahoma Sooners 2026 Schedule

4. Texas A&M Aggies

Analysis: Helped by an easy schedule in 2027, the Aggies made the college football playoff in 2025. But the offense under Mike Elko struggled against good defenses. Look for A&M to have a very similar season. A&M will bulldoze a relatively easy schedule then face real challenges down the stretch.

2025 Record: 11-2 (7-1 in SEC)

Texas A&M Aggies 2026 Schedule

3. LSU Tigers

Analysis: LSU has lost so many games over the past few years by a slim margin. Kiffin should help bridge that gap and lead the Tigers into its natural spot near the top of the SEC.

2025 Record: 7-6 (3-5 in SEC)

LSU Tigers 2026 Schedule

2. Georgia Bulldogs

Analysis: The biggest question in this ranking is who should be on top - Georgia or Texas. Normally, you stick with the team that has done it over and over. Georgia has had Texas' number in the Longhorns first two years in the SEC, beating Texas three times. But Texas was one of the big winners in the transfer portal and Georgia's class ranks in the 50s. Georgia will be good, very good, especially if QB Gunner Stockton continues to improve. The Bulldogs also have one of the best running backs in the nation in Nate Frazier.

2025 Record: 12-2 (7-1 in SEC)

Georgia Bulldogs 2026 Schedule

1. Texas Longhorns

Analysis: The Texas Longhorns have moved all in for what should be Arch Manning's last season in Austin. Texas not only added depth through the transfer portal, it added stars like WR Cam Coleman, RBs Raleek Brown, Hollywood Smothers and LB Rasheem Biles. And based on how he finished the season, Manning might have a Heisman Trophy type season.

2025 Record: 10-3 (6-2 in SEC)
