The New York Mets are 6-4, tied atop the NL East with the Miami Marlins as the second week of April begins.
But the Mets, despite their decent record, got some massively unfortunate news on Monday, as Juan Soto is going to miss some time.
As Will Sammon of The Athletic reports, the Mets are placing Soto on the injured list and will lose the $765 million outfielder for the next few weeks with a calf issue.

"The Mets placed Juan Soto on the injured list with a right calf strain," Sammon reports. "Ronny Mauricio is up from Triple-A."
This is some difficult news for the Mets, as Soto is one of, if not their best, players. Now, they're going to be without their superstar outfielder for some time this season.
Soto has played in just eight games this season, but he's already put up 0.6 bWAR thanks to a very hot start, which makes this injury news that much worse.

In 34 plate appearances, Soto has 11 hits, three runs scored, two doubles, one home run, five RBIs, three walks, a .355 batting average, and a .928 OPS.
After finishing third in the NL MVP race last season, Soto was looking to have another MVP-type season in 2026.
But now, that is on hold as he lands on the injured list and will miss some time after the first couple of weeks of the season.
