Luck was certainly on the side of Kitchener’s Patricia and Brian Winger, who are going to celebrate their 48th anniversary this summer in style after winning the $350,000 top prize with Instant Aces Wild

It’s said the number they won the top prize with was 48.

“It was a beautiful sign!” the couple told OLG.

The Wingers discovered their win one evening after a long day of running errands.

“We came home and played the ticket we purchased,” they told OLG.  “After revealing the number 48, we realized we won big and couldn’t believe it. We checked a few times on the OLG app to confirm the win.”

The couple’s spending plans include travelling to Italy and visiting Tuscany and will also save for retirement and share with their children.

The winning ticket was bought at Forsythe Variety on King St. East in Kitchener.

‘INCREDIBLE WIN’

Retiree Nancy Shepley of Alvinston, Ont., who’s been playing the lottery over the last two decades, won her first major windfall with a Lotto 6/49 second prize worth $130,617 in the Feb. 28, 2026, draw.

Shepley checked her ticket on the phone to make the discovery.

“I was so shocked and couldn’t believe my eyes,” the 60-year-old told OLG.

“It felt so unreal! My husband was making breakfast at the time, and I told him I had to show him something. He replied, ‘Honey, I’m in the middle of something — can it wait?’ I giggled and said, ‘It can, but I’m sure you’d want to know now!’ I showed him my phone screen and his face went blank. He was in complete disbelief! He finished cooking and we enjoyed the meal as a family, even though our minds weren’t fully present. As we ate our eggs, all we could think about was this winning ticket!”

Shepley shared the news with her daughter and sister-in-law and has plans to pay some bills and buy a new oven.

“Words can’t even begin to describe how I’m feeling — it’s just incredible!” she told OLG.  “I feel beyond grateful, especially since it’s my birth month. This win has brought so much joy and excitement.”

The winning ticket was bought at Heidi’s Your Independent Grocer on Petrolia St. in Petrolia.
