At halftime of its Final Four game Saturday night, Michigan men's basketball received a major recruiting commitment.

Five-star point guard Brandon McCoy Jr. from Sierra Canyon High School in California announced his commitment to Michigan during halftime of the "Fab Five" altcast broadcast.

McCoy, 6-foot-5, is rated the No. 14 overall prospect in the nation and No. 3 at his position in the 247Sports composite rankings.

"I'm blessed and grateful to announce I'll be attending the University of Michigan," McCoy said on the broadcast, unzipping his jacket and revealing a blue Michigan Jumpman T-shirt.

He then put on a pair of Buffs sunglasses.

"Go Blue!" Jalen Rose said. "When you join this family, that's forever."

"You're coming to a state, Michigan, where we have some of the best people ever," Chris Webber said. "Be yourself ... we're going to support and love you."

"Nephew, we're one call away," said Rose, "good days, bad days."

McCoy is part of the Class of 2026, and had offers from most major basketball powers, including Michigan and Arizona, the teams playing Saturday in the Final Four, as well as Duke, among several others.

He’s the sixth member of Michigan’s 2026 recruiting class, joining power forward Quinn Costello, small forwards Malachi Brown and Lincoln Cosby, shooting guard Joseph Hartman and big man Marcus Moller.

Costello, Brown, Hartman and Moller all signed during the early signing period in November, while Cosby made his commitment on Feb. 10.
