South Bay Lakers recap: G League Lakers continue to streak

· Yahoo Sports

These days, it seems as if the South Bay Lakers can't lose a game even if they tried to. They took an 11-game winning streak into Sunday's game against the Rip City Remix, and they looked to continue the tear that they have been on of late.

Unlike plenty of South Bay's other games during its current winning streak, this game was competitive throughout. It started to pull away late and had a 93-87 lead going into the fourth quarter, only to see the Remix remain on its tail down the stretch. But South Bay was able to outlast the Remix and claim a 129-122 victory.

While the Remix outshot South Bay 50.6% to 48.9% from the field, they committed 22 turnovers and were outscored by 12 in the paint. Arthur Kaluma led the Lakers in scoring by tossing in 27 points on 8-of-12 shooting off the bench. Guard R.J. Davis scored 24 points and dished off six assists while making half of his 16 shot attempts and six 3-point tries.

Center Malik Williams turned in 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Nick Smith Jr. also had 19 points, although he shot 7-of-19 from the field.

South Bay now has the G League's best record at 22-8, and it is half a game ahead of the second-place Mexico City Capitanes in the Western Conference.
