Tom Brady might always be a New England Patriot at heart, and yes, there's a 12-foot bronze statue erected at Gillette Stadium in the seven-time Super Bowl champion's honor.
But Brady is no longer in the business of helping the Patriots win football games.

The NFL legend is a partial owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, and as expected, he was believed to be involved in the agreed upon blockbuster trade that will send two-time All-Pro edge rusher Maxx Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens. Although the Patriots were ultimately outpriced in the deal, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that one person involved doesn't believe Brady would have traded Crosby to the Patriots.
Fowler wrote:
"One person involved in the trade made an interesting point about the Patriots' chances at Crosby: 'No way Tom [Brady] was sending Maxx to [Mike] Vrabel."
Crosby is being traded in exchange for the Ravens' 2026 first-round draft pick and 2027 first-round pick. It's hard to envision the Patriots as a team willing to give up that kind of draft capital for a defensive player turning 29 years old this year—even for one as good as Crosby.
But Brady potentially not wanting to do business with the Patriots will be a talking point throughout the offseason. Was this simply part of Brady's competitive nature and not wanting to see the team move forward and succeed without him? Or, is there really still animosity there from the team allowing him to walk out the door back in 2020?
Perhaps this is all a big nothing-burger.
But there's clearly smoke lingering from the response Brady gave ahead of the Super Bowl LX matchup between the Patriots and Seattle Seahawks, when he was asked who he was siding with in the game.
"I don't have a dog in the fight in this one. May the best team win," Brady said on the Let's Go! podcast.
