Jaylen Brown explains alley-oop play with Jayson Tatum

Daniel Donabedian shared Jaylen Brown’s explanation after a moment in the game where he attempted an alley-oop pass to Tatum.

“That was just me kind of seeing where he was at athletically and physically. I’ll be a little safer next time,” Brown said.

The play quickly became a talking point because it involved Tatum attacking the rim in his very first game after recovering from an Achilles tear.

Brown later suggested the pass was partly a test to see how comfortable his teammate looked physically following months of rehabilitation.

While the moment created some nervous reactions from fans, it also highlighted Boston’s confidence in Tatum’s recovery.

Jayson Tatum shines in Celtics’ return against Mavericks

Tatum’s performance showed that he had returned in strong form despite the seriousness of the injury.

The Celtics forward finished with 15 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists in 27 minutes as Boston defeated the Dallas Mavericks 120–100.

He also shot 6-of-16 from the field while contributing across the game with rebounds and playmaking.

Considering Achilles injuries often sideline players for close to a full year, Tatum’s ability to immediately impact the game stood out.

The Celtics will now hope the return of their franchise star gives them another boost as they approach the most important stretch of the season.
