The Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, and New York Giants all received good news from an NFL insider's rumor about the Kansas City Chiefs.
Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated doesn't believe that Jaylen Wayson is guaranteed to return to Kansas City in free agency, despite the team trading away Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams.
"I don’t think so. I’ve heard Watson could get over $15 million per year, and Cook likely lands right around that. The Chiefs, behind DC Steve Spagnuolo and secondary coach Dave Merritt, have done a really good job developing those positions, and my guess is they reluctantly walk away from a couple of players they like because of it," Breer said.
Watson is coming off the best season of his career in 2025, tallying two interceptions and 19 defensive stops in 15 starts. The two-time Super Bowl champion also allowed just a 69 passer rating when targeted and 59.3% completion rate on 59 targets.
Dallas, Philadelphia, and New York need help at cornerback, and all should be interested in Watson's services.
The Cowboys don't have a reliable No. 1 cornerback on the roster, but Watson would fill that hole and give the Cowboys a battle-tested defensive back with a ton of playoff experience.
Cornerback isn't a massive need for the Eagles, but Nick Sirianni's squad could use more help on the outside, so Watson woild be a logical signing.
The Giants are going to overhaul their roster with John Harbaugh now at head coach, and adding Watson to be the new top corner would be an electric move.
Watson could still return to Kansas City, but if he finds a new home this offseason, Dallas, Philadelphia, and New York make sense as possible landing spots.
