Battered by Battery: The Charleston Battery scored three goals in the first 19 minutes and went on to down Sporting Club Jacksonville 5-2, continuing the home team's woes in a storm-delayed USL Championship men's soccer contest on June 20.

Kuzain response not enough: Wan Kuzain provided short-lived hope with goals immediately before and immediately after halftime, but Sporting Jax (0-11-3) slumped to its 16th consecutive game without a victory against opponents from the second tier of United States soccer.
Sloppy start: The Battery (7-4-2) struck only 12 minutes in when Maalique Foster intercepted Harvey Neville's back pass. Jeremy Kelly added another two minutes later on an uncontested shot from outside, and Miguel Berry pounced in the 19th minute after yet another Sporting Jax defensive giveaway to Foster.
Quick free kicks: Berry added a second goal in the 53th minute when left totally open from close range, and Charleston's Alec Hughes scored a rebound off an 81st-minute free kick, immediately after a second yellow card to Sporting Jax captain Ryan Edwards. ... The ensuing red card is expected to rule Edwards out of Sporting Jax's next game. ... Sporting Jax has allowed 11 goals in the last two games. ... Thunderstorms delayed kickoff for two and a half hours at the University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium.
