Luka Doncic has already put together an impressive resume in his eight seasons in the NBA. At age 27, it appears that he has just entered his prime after putting together an MVP-caliber campaign this season with the Los Angeles Lakers.

He averaged 33.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 1.6 steals a game while shooting 47.6% from the field and 36.6% from 3-point range this season, and he earned his second scoring title and sixth All-NBA First Team nod. However, he has two glaring holes in his resume: no MVP awards and no NBA championships.

During an interview with Jorge Quiroga of Marca that was translated from Spanish, Doncic made it clear that while he wants to win more individual awards, winning the NBA title is what's more important to him.

“Well, I don’t know, that’s for the media to decide. I don’t have that answer. Playing better, I don’t know. But well, although I want to win all the awards, the important thing is the ring.”

This season, the Lakers were knocked out of the second round of the playoffs by the Oklahoma City Thunder in a four-game sweep after Doncic suffered a season-ending hamstring strain on April 2. He has reportedly been cleared to resume full basketball activities, and thus, he's ready to go through his full offseason training regimen.

He made it clear that this offseason will be very important for the Lakers as far as improving a roster that brought them a 53-29 record and the Western Conference's fourth seed this year. Per ESPN, a source close to Doncic said the superstar badly wants to win a championship and is excited about this offseason.

"Luka wants to be a championship team yesterday," a source close to Doncic said. "Ever since the trade, they've always told us: 'summer of '26. We'll show you in the summer of '26.' So, we are so excited that the summer of '26 is here."

The Lakers are projected to have up to roughly $50 million in salary cap space to use on keeping their own players in free agency and securing at least one upgrade.
