Canada-wide warrant issued for son of senior couple murdered in Mississauga home

Jordan Sangwin is a wanted man, and no matter where he goes in Canada he’s also a hunted man.

The 46-year-old man is the prime suspect in the Thursday night murder of his mom and dad , 70 and 71, on Briarwood Ave. in Mississauga’s Port Credit neighbourhood.

Wanted for first-degree murder

A Canada wide warrant has been issued for his arrest. He is considered armed and dangerous.

“Sangwin is wanted for two counts of First-Degree Murder,” say Peel Regional Police.

The big question is not just where is he now but what transpired prior to the alleged blunt force assaults on the couple that led to their deaths.

“On Thursday, June 18, at approximately 7:07 p.m., police responded to reports of an assault at a residence near Lakeshore Road East and Hurontario Street,” said police. “Officers located two elderly victims inside. They were transported to hospital, where they were pronounced dead.”

Police identified the victims as 70-year-old Carol Sangwin and 71-year-old Garwood Sangwin, adding the mother was allegedly murdered on the front porch and the father inside the house.

Witnessed said the accused walked away from the scene and had not been seen as of early Friday evening.

Extensive search of the area

Police searched all around the area — including stores, businesses and bus stops — but a day after the alleged crime, there has been no sight of him. Police have put out several pictures of the suspect, including one with what he is believed to be wearing.

“He was last seen wearing a grey long sleeve shirt, dark shorts and carrying a black duffle bag,” say police. He is known to frequent the Lakeshore Road area of Mississauga. “He is described as male, White, medium build with short salt and pepper hair and clean shaven.”

Neighbours describe the victims as wonderful, salt-of-the-earth people. They also say police have been to this house before.

But nobody expected something like this. People on the quiet street just off Lakeshore Blvd. are in a state of shock.

With the understanding that he is known to “frequent the area,” police were expecting to locate and apprehend him quickly but he has, so far, proven to be elusive. Now, in the interest of everybody’s safety, police are urging him to surrender peacefully.

“Investigators are urging Sangwin to seek legal counsel and surrender to police,” said a news release . ”Sangwin should be considered armed and dangerous. Members of the public are advised not to approach and to call 911 immediately if seen.”

Meanwhile, the victim’s family are said to be devastated by this horror. While the names of the deceased have not been released, neighbours in the area said they will be missed.

There will be more information on them in the days ahead. The focus now is on catching their alleged killer.
