DR Congo fans hit Cristiano Ronaldo SIUUU after Portugal draw

Barstool Sports shared the scene on X, with DR Congo supporters jumping into Ronaldo’s famous celebration after the final whistle.

The clip showed fans copying the Portuguese forward’s trademark “SIUUU” move after their side held Portugal to a 1-1 draw. It was not a goal celebration in the usual sense, but a pointed joke at the expense of the player most associated with it.

Ronaldo’s celebration is one of the most recognizable in world sport, so seeing opposition fans use it after denying Portugal a win was always going to land as a visible taunt.

For DR Congo supporters, the draw carried the emotion of a win. For Ronaldo, the same celebration became a reminder of a night when he could not deliver the moment Portugal needed.

Cristiano Ronaldo struggled badly as Portugal dropped points

The mockery hit harder because Ronaldo’s own performance gave fans plenty to react to, with the Portugal captain playing the full match without finding the breakthrough.

Reports from the match showed Ronaldo failed to register a shot on target and finished with limited attacking impact despite Portugal having the possession and territory to win. He also missed chances in the second half as the game stayed level.

The draw extended a difficult World Cup run for Ronaldo, who has now gone five straight matches in the tournament without scoring since his penalty against Ghana in 2022. Against DR Congo, the drought became part of a wider debate about Portugal’s attack and whether it still functions cleanly around him.

DR Congo deserve credit for making that frustration possible. They defended with discipline after Wissa’s equalizer and refused to let Portugal turn control into a winner.

That is why the SIUUU celebration worked so well as a fan moment. It was not just mockery of Ronaldo’s brand, it was DR Congo supporters celebrating the fact that they had kept him quiet on a night Portugal expected to win.
