The Gainesville Sun confirmed reports that Florida Atlantic middle infielder John Martinez has signed with the program.

In 2026, the redshirt sophomore batted .297 with 16 doubles, 5 home runs and 39 RBIs. Martinez is the fifth player UF has added from the portal and the second infielder, and the third this week.

In 2025, the Orlando native was equally productive as he recorded a .284 batting average, 14 doubles, 3 home runs with 30 RBIs.

Earlier in the week, Florida added Utah Tech infielder Kyle McDaniel, who was a first-team All-WAC selection along with freshman All-American pitcher Trey Morris from Oregon State.

McDaniel, who primarily played second base, hit .340, 10 doubles, seven home runs and drove in 52 runs while drawing 43 walks. Morris logged a 1.98 ERA, 0.83 WHIP, 67 strikeouts and 15 walks in over 59 innings.
