Roberts spent the last two seasons as the assistant under previous coach, Hannah Seaver-Logan. He also had prior head coaching experience at Karns and Concord Christian.
"We are extremely pleased to name Haden Roberts as the next softball coach at Knoxville Catholic High School," Catholic athletic director Jason Surlas said in a statement. "Haden is an outstanding coach with extensive experience in the sport of softball and a man of tremendous character who embodies the values of our school. I am confident he will build upon the momentum and success of our softball program from last season."
Catholic qualified for the TSSAA Division II-AA state tournament in May, which was its first state tournament appearance since 1984 and its third in school history.
The Lady Irish went 8-23 last season. They were 0-6 in East Region play during the regular season, but swept both Father Ryan and Briarcrest to reach the state championship.
"We have a special group of student-athletes who believe in what this program can become," Roberts said in the release. "I'm excited to work alongside our players, families, and the entire Knoxville Catholic community as we continue to grow Lady Irish softball."
