Wow, Liverpool's perfect signing just announced himself to the world

Liverpool's perfect signing just announced himself to world football. Wow, what a player.

Liverpool struggled in a lot of areas last season. It's left them needing to sign players all over the pitch - possibly as much as seven if things go a certain way.

The wings are likely the priority, particularly after Mohamed Salah's exit, but it also seems near-certain that Liverpool move for a new midfielder. The squad is desperate for a player who can add bite in the middle.

Liverpool's defensive numbers in the middle are terrible, after all. Teams were consistently capable of running through them all season long and while Andoni Iraola will hope to fix that tactically, it can't be denied that the Reds look lightweight.

We'd love to see a new defensive midfielder arrive, then. And possibly Liverpool's perfect kind of target announced himself to the world on Saturday evening.

Ayyoud Bouaddi started for Morocco against Brazil as the chief holding midfielder for his country. Now, that alone is extraordinary as Bouaddi only committed to the national team in the last few months and is still only 18.

Bouaddi has generated a lot of hype through his efforts with Lille but this was on another level. The teenager was one of the best players on the pitch.

Four tackles, six recoveries, 91 per cent pass completion - doing that on your World Cup debut at 18 against Brazi? Extraordinary stuff and there's no doubt that Bouaddi has all the tools - every one imaginable - to be an elite player.

He's also in the age bracket (just about) that Liverpool are shopping in. Giovanni Leoni joined last summer at 18, Jeremy Jacquet is 20, Florian Wirtz 22, Hugo Ekitike 22, Milos Kerkez 21 - Bouaddi fits in with that style of arrival

Capable of delivering right now but with generational potential. Liverpool need a defensive midfielder and should be throwing everything they have at Bouaddi.

Ayyoub Bouaddi: Situation Summary

Lille Career and Performance

As of 14 June 2026, Ayyoub Bouaddi is a 18-year-old central midfielder for Lille OSC. Since becoming the youngest player in the history of UEFA club competitions in late 2023, the elegant playmaker has developed into a vital engine for the French side. The 2025/26 season served as his definitive breakthrough campaign, as he registered 34 Ligue 1 appearances and established himself as one of Europe's premier teenage talents. His exceptional vision and composed distribution in the center of the pitch helped Lille secure a top-four finish and qualification for the UEFA Champions League.

International Status and World Cup Involvement

Bouaddi is currently an integral part of the France Under-21 squad, having opted to continue his international development within the French youth setup. Although he was heavily monitored by senior manager Didier Deschamps following his domestic success, Bouaddi was not included in the final 26-man senior France squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America. Elite clubs across Europe, including Real Madrid and Juventus, are reportedly preparing substantial summer bids to tempt Lille into selling their prized midfield prodigy.
