O’Malley took the center of the cage right away, walking down his Canadian foe. O’Malley worked behind his straight punches and lined up a few body shots. Zahabi tried to run into low kicks but didn’t throw much else for most of the round. He began to open up more late in the round, landing a counter left hook. O’Malley found his range in the closing exchanges of the round, landing hard with a shifting left and a couple right hooks.

“Suga” was slightly ahead after five minutes.

The second round began with more low kicks from Zahabi. O’Malley answered with sharp jabs, and Zahabi’s nose began to bleed. Zahabi continued to land the low kicks, but he wasn’t even throwing punches anymore. It was a really strange dynamic, as O’Malley landed the only head punches while Zahabi was content with just his low kicks, which were landing.

Late in the round, Zahabi tried to open up with his hands. He ran straight into a heavy counter left hand that put his butt on the floor. As Zahabi popped back up, O’Malley cracked him with a clean 1-2 and sat him right back down. “Suga” was saluting the crowd before Zahabi even hit the floor, and the referee quickly halted the action.

It’s been a long time since that last O’Malley knockout win! The former champion was sharp tonight, hardly taking a punch en route to the stoppage win. It wasn’t action-packed necessarily, but O’Malley lived up to his sniper reputation with this victory.
