Mark Schlereth is a no-nonsense guy. A former NFL offensive lineman who played 12 seasons in the NFL as a 10th-round pick out of Idaho, Schlereth is also a three-time Super Bowl champion.

The Anchorage, Alaska, native spent his first six NFL seasons in Washington and was a member of the Redskins' 1991 NFL championship team. He played his final six seasons for the Denver Broncos, winning two more Super Bowls. Overall, Schlereth played 156 NFL games, making 140 starts. Not bad for a former 10th-round pick.

The craziest stat about Schlereth's long and successful NFL career was that he underwent 29 surgeries before his retirement. He's a tough guy, too.

Since the end of his NFL career, Schlereth transitioned into a successful media career, spending several years at ESPN, local radio and is now a game analyst for Fox Sports. Schlereth also runs a successful podcast called "The Stinkin' Truth."

In the latest episode, Schlereth was questioned about the Brandon Aiyuk situation. Aiyuk, of course, is at odds with his current team, the San Francisco 49ers, and hopes to play for Schlereth's former team, the Washington Commanders, at some point in the near future.

To say Schlereth isn't a fan of how Aiyuk has handled himself recently is an understatement.

"Here’s a little piece of advice for you," Schlereth said. "You are exactly where you are because of the shitty decisions that you’ve made. You are not a victim. It is not anybody else’s fault. The San Francisco 49ers didn’t conspire against you to ruin your career. You are where you are because of your stupidity. Just admit it, embrace it, and move forward with it. That's what you gotta do."

We told you Schlereth was no-nonsense. He calls it as he sees it. And he's not the only former NFL player who thinks like this. The situation between Aiyuk and the 49ers seems almost unprecedented.

The Commanders remain the team most linked to Aiyuk. They are not trading for him. GM Adam Peters appears content to wait the 49ers out until they eventually cut him. That doesn't appear to be happening anytime soon, as the 49ers have no incentive to make a move at the moment. However, that could change when training camp opens next month.
