Daniele Longo has now reported that Maignan’s agent is exploring the market for the best possible solution. This has already alerted Milan, who have a shortlist of possible replacements.

Freiburg’s Noah Atubola has impressed the club’s scouts quite a bit and Cagliari’s Elia Caprile has also made a positive impression. The German’s current deal runs out in 2027 and the Bundesliga side have already replaced him, which is another sign that Milan could execute a move.

It is still in evaluation phase but the situation can grow in the next few weeks.

Wise decision by Milan

This is quite wise from Milan, especially as replacing a player of Maignan’s abilities won’t be easy. They would ideally want a younger option who proved himself at the highest level, which is what the France international himself had done at Lille.

Both Atubolu and Caprile fit the bill, with the Italian specifically having made a mark in Serie A. He has also grown as a leader and definitely won’t mind a big move.
