The Dodgers entered the inning tied with the Pirates after a strong Paul Skenes start, but immediately figured it out in the seventh. They took the lead after two batters following an error from Pirates catcher Henry Davis, and batted around before recording a single out.
Freddie Freeman plated the 10th run of the inning with his 2,500th career hit, and the Dodgers put the game well out of reach.
“I think our guys were just very patient in that inning,” Roberts said. “You could see those pitchers coming in there, and they were having a hard time throwing strikes, and we were just taking what we could get and weren’t trying to force the issue. We had some good takes, took some walks and threw a couple of big hits in there.”
Over the course of the inning, the Dodgers saw 68 pitches and walked four times.

The Dodgers went through something of a slump in May, struggling to find runs with several of their big bats unable to produce runs. Since recording consecutive big wins against the Los Angeles Angels, though, the Dodgers have been among the best offensive teams in the league.
The Dodgers have a 127 wRC+ since May 15, which was the first day of their series against the Angels. That mark ranks second in MLB, only behind the San Francisco Giants.
Their 140 runs since then are the most in MLB, and they have a collective OPS of .813.

The offense has truly returned, and they’re sure to continue producing as the season progresses and their key players settle in.
They’ll continue playing the Pirates on Tuesday, when Shohei Ohtani steps on the mound for his 11th start of the season.
