Iowa basketball fans react to new Carver-Hawkeye Arena court design
· Yahoo Sports
After Iowa Athletics finally completed the replacement of Carver-Hawkeye Arena's iconic parquet flooring with the recently purchased maple-wood flooring from the 2026 NCAA Men's Tournament Elite 8, Hawkeye fans expressed mixed reactions on social media to the new court design.

Aside from the obvious absence of the parquet pattern, the enlarged black "Tigerhawk" logo with gold trim remains at center court along with the "22" emblem marking the location of Caitlin Clark's NCAA scoring record-breaking 3-pointer. Both keys are painted black, with the restricted area outlined in gold and the surrounding 3-point arcs outlined in a thin black line.
The most notable change is to the sidelines and baselines, which are painted black over the university's "Block I chainmail pattern," alongside "Iowa Hawkeyes" written in an interlocking font that incorporates the university's "Block I" logo.
While Iowa decided to keep the design simple and let the men's and women's programs' on-court performance create the headlines, here are some of the best social media reactions from Hawkeyes fans to the new Carver-Hawkeye Arena surface:

Won’t lie — was kinda hoping they’d bring the gold back. https://t.co/jPibHMdXtZ

Cool video but this court couldn’t be less interesting to Iowa fans. It looks pretty much the exact same since the Alford era, minus the parquet. Was hoping for a refresh https://t.co/lwhUvh1H4A

Small thing, but I appreciate getting rid of the yellow boundary lines. They didn't contrast well on TV

New court has been unveiled! The interlocking “I” pattern around the outside is the highlight for me. Overall a clean look, but definitely a bit underwhelming. What do you think? https://t.co/WYHVnhaaV9

Iowa goes with the Block “I” Chainmail Pattern for the sidelines on its new basketball court.

Chainmail + Black with yellow outline wordmark on the baselines makes for a pretty clean look.
I wish they did a little more with the center court logo. https://t.co/G2JY77MTRY

Well - that’s underwhelming to say the least. Basically just what we had minus the parquet… https://t.co/VRL7JKBSsb
