The Real Madrid election is over and Florentino Pérez has won the club’s presidency.

Last week, Pérez made big news by talking about pushing the club to make a €150 million transfer to bring back the team’s winning ways. While the executive denied that player he was talking about bringing in was Bayern Munich star Michael Olise, no less than three different outlets said that Pérez was trying to throw everyone off his scent and did, indeed, actually want Olise:

Now, Pérez is back in power and Real Madrid fans will be expecting him to live up to his promise. Some other names that were bandied about were the Paris Saint-Germain midfield duo of Vitinha and João Neves, along with Manchester City star striker Erling Haaland. Just like Bayern Munich, PSG and Manchester City scoffed at the notion of losing their respective star players.

Will Pérez make good on his promise or leave fans wondering if the right man was elected?
