In a major initiative to strengthen regional logistics and enhance customer engagement, Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) organised a high-level Trade Meet in Ratnagiri on June 3, 2026. The event served as a collaborative platform to interact with freight customers and apprise them of the recently upgraded and upcoming freight infrastructure across the Konkan Railway network.
The meeting was chaired by Santosh Kumar Jha, Chairman and Managing Director, KRCL, and attended by senior officials, including the Director (Way & Works), Chief Operations Manager, Regional Railway Managers of Ratnagiri and Karwar, and the Deputy General Manager of the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC).

A key focus of the discussions was the significant potential for container traffic from the Ratnagiri region to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) in Navi Mumbai. To tap this opportunity, Konkan Railway urged all stakeholders to work together towards a common goal of commencing the first dedicated rail container service from Ratnagiri by the first week of July 2026.
To support the initiative and ensure commercial viability, the Central Warehousing Corporation committed to offering highly competitive tariff rates to trade partners.
The meet witnessed active participation from key stakeholders involved in the transportation of bulk commodities such as fertilisers and foodgrains to and from the Ratnagiri region. Senior representatives from Jaigarh Port and Angre Port also attended the event, reflecting strong maritime-rail coordination for future cargo movement.
Konkan Railway highlighted its recent capacity enhancements and upcoming freight terminals, which are expected to provide faster, more reliable and cost-effective logistics solutions to customers.
The interaction underscored Konkan Railway's commitment to fostering growth through close collaboration with trade stakeholders.
