Boo Boo — real name Bobbie Arthur Owen — has been convicted of 22 counts of child sexual assault in Oregon.
Sacramento Superior Court Judge Deborah Lobre sentenced the fallen funnyman to 39 years in prison.
The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office said Owen began sexually molesting a girl on a “regular basis” beginning when she was just 11 years old. The victim is now an adult.
The abuse began after his clowning career came to a conclusion. At the time, he was working as a contractor. He also dabbled in insurance sales before becoming a truck driver in 2009.
What the victim told police
The victim went to Citrus Heights police in 2024 when she was 32. She told detectives that she had endured hundreds of sexual encounters with Owen.
According to the Sacramento Bee, Owen abused the girl for years, attempting sexual intercourse when she was 15. The horrors continued until she was 18.
The victim’s only respite came when Owen moved out to California for work.
Cops finally caught up to the creepy clown in Meridian, Idaho, just west of Boise in November 2024. He had resided there since 2008, according to public records.
Confessed to crimes
Owen quickly broke and confessed to his sinister crimes. He had recently been on the phone with the woman discussing the horrendous abuse.
He was extradited to California in February 2025. Owen was held without bond until his conviction in May. His trial and sentencing took just three days. It is almost certain he will never leave prison alive.
Owen performed as Boo Boo from 1994 until 2002, mostly in Springfield and Eugene, Oregon, about 160 km south of Portland. At the end of his clowning escapades, Owen moved to Citrus Heights near Sacramento.
Coincidentally, the suburb was also the home of the Golden State Killer, Joseph DeAngelo.
