In-form RR, who were on a three-match winning streak before the Qualifier 2, posted a formidable total of 214 runs on the board, riding on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's 96-run knock.

However, the much-famed RR bowling attack failed to trouble the GT openers as they put up a massive opening partnership of 167 runs. Gill scored a brilliant century to make sure his team smoothly reached the destination.

Gill's knock was described as 'god mode' by former RCB analyst Prasanna Agoram, as he posted on X, "God mode batting this from Gill."

All eyes were on the battle of two Indian openers as Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Shubman Gill came face to face in the all-important IPL Qualifier 2 match. 

Sooryavanshi picked up from where he left off in the last match as he played another memorable knock, this time more responsibly.

At a time when the RR batters were crumbling, Sooryavanshi stood rock solid at one end and made sure he kept the scorecard running for his side. Unfortunately, the southpaw was dismissed in a similar manner of how he got out in the Eliminator as he once again missed out on a century.

In response, Gill played a memorable knock and scored a brilliant century when it mattered the most and led GT from the front and guided them to the IPL final, thereby ending Sooryavanshi's magnificent IPL 2026 journey.
