The Pittsburgh Steelers may have struck gold with one of their young quarterbacks — and no, it's not third-round rookie Drew Allar.

On Wednesday, Steelers quarterbacks coach Tom Arth praised 2025 sixth-rounder Will Howard in his early development.

“[Howard] is doing everything and more that we can ask of him,” Arth said, via 93.7 The Fan. “He is exceeding expectations. We couldn’t be happier with where he is at.”

Arth added that he's excited to see what Howard can do in training camp and the preseason, as well as hinted at a future competition between the two young quarterbacks on the roster.

Selected with the 185th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Howard suffered a broken finger in training camp and wasn't able to log any preseason snaps. But hopes are high for the second-year quarterback after being mentored by Aaron Rodgers.

It's promising that Howard, potentially the odd man out in a four-man quarterback room, is receiving such high praise from Arth — which will hopefully motivate the young signal-caller in what could be a QB2 battle with Mason Rudolph.
