A four-star prospect, Vaughn chose the Fighting Irish out of a top-five that also included LSU, Auburn, Miami and South Carolina. It was a long shot that he would end up in Baton Rouge, but the Tigers made a late push.

LSU defensive line coach Sterling Lucas paid a visit to Vaughn in the recruit's hometown of Oradell, NJ, two weeks ago. He reclassified from the 2028 class to 2027 in late April, which sped up the process.

Vaughn ranked as one of the top prospects in the 2028 class before reclassifying. Rivals' Industry Rankings put him at No. 5 in New Jersey and No. 25 at his position. He'll play a final season at Bergen Catholic High School.

LSU's 2027 class currently ranks No. 10 nationally and No. 5 in the SEC with five commitments. Head coach Lane Kiffin focused on building the current roster and is now picking up steam on the high school recruiting trail. His staff will certainly focus on identifying flip candidates heading into the fall.
