The Stormers wing is back in contention for Saturday’s Vodacom URC quarter-final against Cardiff at Cape Town Stadium, three years after missing the Cape side’s last knockout campaign.
“Looking at this season, it’s been a tough season for me, kind of like the slow of my life for the last five years,” Senatla said. “But if you look at the bigger picture, we’re heading into a quarterfinal and I’m back again.”
RENERGISED SENATLA READY TO TACKLE CARDIFF
The 32-year-old said the memory of missing out previously has sharpened his focus heading into the weekend.
“I missed that one, but I get the opportunity to do this again this weekend,” he said. “I want to go back into that frame of mind and try to contribute as much as I can to the team.”
Senatla also suggested his return has lifted spirits inside the Stormers camp at a critical moment in the season.
“Always getting back to Cape Town, we looked at ourselves and found new energy,” he said. “With my energy coming back, it kind of lifted the team up and there’s been a really, really good energy.”
SPEEDSTER LOOKING FORWARD TO PLAY IN FRONT OF THE STORMERS FAITHFUL
The wing added that running out at Cape Town Stadium in front of a home crowd has real meaning for the squad.
“It’s always lovely to get back to play at the DHL Stadium,” he said. “We want to be playing in front of our people and our supporters.”
However, Senatla was equally clear that the occasion brings responsibility alongside the excitement.
“It gives us that sense of responsibility,” he said. “The guys are going to be coming in and we need to make sure we present them well and give them a show.”
