Rookie wideout Skyler Bell, a fourth-round selection out of UCONN in the 2026 NFL Draft, is among the new crop of players on the roster enjoying their first times taking the practice field in a Bills uniform.

When speaking on his new head coach, the former Husky shared Joe Brady isn't what he expected — in a good way.

"Cool, man. He's way different than what I thought he was. I'm not going to lie," Bell said. "You know, he was making fun of me earlier today about my cleats in the facility. But other than that, man, he's super cool, man. He came to talk to me today. I had a drop in the routes on there, and he was like, " Man, don't worry about that. Just be yourself, man. You're here for a reason. Don't overthink. Get the nerves out. Do you because we want you here."

A first-time head coach, Brady isn't new to the playoff-caliber roster and Buffalo culture, or expectations. He is tasked with leading a team and a locker room with championship goals and rookies trying to earn rotation spots. Bell's account suggests Brady understands the balance. And then there is the matter of former MVP and elite NFL QB Josh Allen, whom the rookie is catching passes and seeking to learn from as the leader of the offense.

"Pumped, man. He's an MVP-caliber player. He's done it at the highest level for many years now," Bell said. "I'm super excited to get to play with him, super excited to learn from him, and just get around him and just pick his brain a little bit and just elevate my game as much as I can being around a guy like that."

Bell also noted he's a "film buff" in terms of studying game tape, and understands the importance of putting in the work to earn Allen's trust in practice and to deliver when the ball is thrown his way.

Bell earned a lot of buzz from the pre-draft through post-draft process for having inside-outside versatility and the ability to create separation and line up in multiple spots in Brady's offense.

The Bills' receiver room has been getting deeper and younger bit-by-bit in recent offseasons, while continuing to add veteran talent. The team has needed more passing threats beyond Khalil Shakir and TE Dalton Kincaid, and Bell has a real shot to see regular opportunities to contribute and impact games in a rotation role in his first season.
