Barça have already made some moves to assess the possibility of keeping the Englishman, starting from the premise that they do not want to pay the €30 million buy option.
Aston Villa want Rashford
During the various talks taking place behind the scenes, Barça are aware of Unai Emery’s interest in signing the player for Aston Villa, reports Mundo Deportivo.
Rashford already spent the second half of the season of the 2024/25 season at Villa Park under Emery, and had a decent spell.

Aston Villa still have a chance of qualifying for the Champions League and Emery seems eager to bring Rashford back to the club in the summer.
But the England international’s intention is to exhaust every possibility of remaining at Spotify Camp Nou, whether through a permanent transfer or another loan deal.
The English winger wants to stay at Barça at all costs and believes he is doing enough to earn that opportunity. Manager Hansi Flick has also given his approval for Rashford to continue.
What next for Rashford?
With 14 goals and 12 assists, Rashford has made a significant contribution to Barcelona’s attacking output during this season.
Given his numbers and overall impact, the only doubts within the club concern how fully he understands the team’s tactical mechanisms and style of play.

Rashford is under contract with Manchester United until 2028 and a return to Old Trafford is highly unlikely, despite Michael Carrick being set to be named permanent manager.
Barcelona, for their part, are considering another loan attempt in order to avoid triggering the €30 million purchase clause.
However, Manchester United have made it clear they are not open to another loan arrangement. So, it remains to be seen how things pan out and whether Barcelona opt to retain Rashford beyond this season.
