Top 10 most-capped IPL players in history

Virat Kohli is now the most-capped player in the history of the Indian Premier League. Kohli has been part of the RCB squad since the league's inception in 2008, and he has featured in the very first match of the tournament against KKR.

Incidentally, it is the same opponent against whom Kohli scripted history by becoming the most-capped player in IPL history, 19 years after his debut.

Kohli is closely followed by CSK legend and former captain MS Dhoni and MI icon Rohit Sharma, who have featured 278 IPL games thus far.

Rohit Sharma to beat MS Dhoni's record next

After Virat Kohli surpassed MS Dhoni's match tally in IPL, Rohit Sharma is next in line to go past the CSK legend. Mumbai Indians are scheduled to face Punjab Kings on Thursday, May 13, in Dharamsala and in that game, Sharma is likely to go past Dhoni's tally and equal Kohli's record.

MS Dhoni is yet to feature for CSK in the ongoing season and it is still uncertain whether the veteran star will feature even in one game this season. Also, there are speculations that Dhoni could call it a day at the end of the IPL 2026 season.
