May 13—CHAMPAIGN — The Illinois men's basketball team's last trip to Duke came during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was an 83-68 blowout victory for the Illini that played out in front of a nearly empty Cameron Indoor Stadium in December 2020.

Count on a sellout crowd showing up Nov. 17 in Durham, N.C., with Illinois set to play the first of a two-game series with Duke. The return game for the home-and-home will be Dec. 4, 2027, in Champaign. CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein first reported the news.

Duke holds a 6-3 lead in the series, including a 110-67 victory on Feb. 2, 2025, at Madison Square Garden. That Blue Devils win doubled as the largest margin of defeat in Illinois program history. The Illini's other wins came in 1986 and 1995.

The Duke series gives Illinois four games — and counting — against power conference opponents for the 2026-27 season. The Illini will also play Connecticut on Dec. 4 in a Final Four rematch at the United Center, return a game to Texas Tech and face Missouri in Braggin' Rights.
