Collin Morikawa finishing inside the top-five at the RBC Heritage was nothing short of a miracle, given the lack of trust he has in his back right now.

Morikawa began the 2026 PGA Tour season in fine fashion, with one win and two top-seven finishes to his name in five starts.
However, disaster struck after just one hole of The Players Championship when he felt a twinge in his back after just one hole of the tournament.
Morikawa‘s next start came at The Masters, where he secured a top 10 finish, and he was even better at the RBC Heritage this week.

Morikawa admitted that he is ‘very scared’ out on the golf course right now, due to the fear of his back giving way.
But when will we see him in action again?
Collin Morikawa unsure when he will play golf again
Morikawa spoke to reporters after firing a final round 67 at Harbour Town Golf Links.
He was asked how he plans to tackle his back problem when he gets home.
“Yeah, just hitting a little bit more normal shots and seeing how comfortable I can get,“ the 29-year-old said.
“It’s not really the place to be testing, middle of a tournament, or any day out here for me, especially with where I’m at. But when I’m at home next week, I’ll be able to see how comfortable can I really get, and hopefully we can just get back to normal in a short period of time.“
He was then asked how disappointing it is for him to not be 100 per cent healthy right now.

“It feels like I could have put some scores maybe a little bit better, but I’ve hit some great shots. I’ve made some great putts. Like I said, I’m pretty happy with the way the last two weeks have gone.“
Before one reporter asked him when he will next tee it up in a tournament.
“Unknown,“ Morikawa admitted.
“Going to see how the body goes. Obviously we have a baby due, and that can kind of throw some things off. Going to take it week by week now.“
Collin Morikawa says last two weeks ‘has been a grind’
The two-time major winner was asked by reporters how he is feeling after two very physically challenging weeks in a row.
“I’m happy these last two weeks are done,“ he said.
“It’s been a grind. The two weeks of golf have felt like a full year of golf, just grinding through it, playing.
“But it was nice; I think I learned a lot about myself. Mentally I was pretty strong throughout the last two weeks. There’s something to take from not having the full health of being able to swing a club but kind of working with what you have.
“I think I did a pretty good job so far. I wish I had the last one back, but overall, hopefully a couple top 10s to finish the week.“
Now’s the time for Morikawa to rest up and recuperate. He needs to start trusting the fact that his back will be ok when he’s hitting his shots otherwise he could face some real problems in the future.
