It is safe to say that Real Madrid did not take its loss to Bayern Munich — and subsequent elimination from the Champions League — all that well.

In fact, just about everyone was irate with the referee crew and the outcome.

Why? Well, mostly because they felt as if it was “unfair.”

Here are some of the postgame comments from Real Madrid.

Head coach Álvaro Arbeloa (via Fabrizio Romano)

“Camavinga? No one understands it. It’s UNFAIR. The game ended there. I think the referee did NOT remember he had a yellow card.”

“The referee RUINED the game.”

Unfortunately for Real Madrid, the sacking of Xabi Alonso and the hiring of Arbeloa just did not work out:

🚨 Alvaro Arbeloa (7) has more defeats in 21 official matches on the bench with Real Madrid than Xabi Alonso in 34 matches (6).

Le Journal du Real also captured these quotes as well:

“Sometimes, certain referees DON’T KNOW WHAT IT’S LIKE TO PLAY FOOTBALL, tonight we saw that.”

“I want to congratulate Bayern Munich for their incredible performance in this match. If we had to lose, I would prefer to lose against them in another way, rather than losing because of an inexplicable decision by the referee.”

Defender Éder Militão (via Fabrizio Romano)

“The red card was unfair.”

Midfielder Arda Güler (via Fabrizio Romano)

“This isn’t how it should’ve been. We are sorry. We will be back. Hala Madrid.”
