Bayern Munich’s 2-1 win in Real Madrid’s Bernabeu broke multiple ugly streaks for the Bavarians. It was a first win over Los Blancos for Bayern since 2012 and a first victory in their Spanish rival’s stadium since 2001. It was a thrilling match that was well worth the 25 year wait for fans of Die Roten.

But equally it was not fully satisfying, as nothing has been decided yet.

The team knows this, too. “Everyone in the dressing room was very, very calm,” Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany revealed after the match, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “We won, but we need to win again to advance. Winning at the Bernabéu is something special. If you can do that, that shows you’re capable of achieving a lot. But the tie is not over.”“

No matter how much this victory is a relieving one for every fan of Bayern, it means nothing yet. It is funny how a football match can mean so much and so little at the same time, is it not?
