Pune: PMC Drops Property Tax Clause From Urban Poor Health Scheme

· Free Press Journal

To expand healthcare for the economically weaker sections, the Pune Municipal Corporation’s Standing Committee has scrapped the property tax condition under the late Deputy Chief Minister Ajitdada Pawar Urban Poor Health Scheme.

Standing Committee Chairman Shrinath Bhimale said that the condition, introduced during the administrative regime, had barred citizens paying more than ₹5,000 in property tax from availing of the scheme. However, the clause ended up excluding many deserving low-income families from its benefits. “The condition was proving to be restrictive for poor and middle-class citizens. Hence, it has been removed,” Bhimale stated.
