The Minnesota Twins were defeated 13-9 by the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday night. With the defeat, Minnesota is now 1-4 to begin the new campaign. One of the team's star prospects, left-handed pitcher Kendry Rojas, is currently dealing with a right hamstring strain.

According to MLB.com, Rojas is expected to return in early April. He recently pitched in a live batting practice session. It seems as if he will return soon barring any setbacks.

Kendry Rojas

Rojas is a 23-year-old left-handed pitcher. His fastball and slider are his best overall pitches. The Twins acquired Rojas in a trade during the 2025 campaign.

He is currently the team's No. 10 overall prospect. Rojas is the Twins' No. 4 overall pitching prospect and No. 3 overall left-handed pitching prospect.

In 2025, Rojas pitched in a total of 19 games. He made 18 starts during that span. The left-hander ultimately turned in a 4.70 ERA across 69 innings of work.

Overall, he has pitched in the minor leagues since 2021. He holds a career 3.63 ERA in his minor league career. He is likely going to be a starter, as 60 of his 73 appearances have been starts.

His MLB ETA is set for the 2026 season. He could join the Twins at some point this year as a result. For now, he is focused on recovering from injury and pitching in the minor leagues.

Twins' 2026 Outlook

Minnesota has struggled to begin the new campaign. The Twins decided to keep most of their star players in the offseason -- including Byron Buxton and Joe Ryan. It was a bold decision given their overall position.

Now, it seems as if a rebuild is going to be necessary. This ball club is simply not constructed to compete at an especially high level, especially with Pablo Lopez out due to injury.

Prospects such as Rojas will likely play crucial roles for this team sooner rather than later. Of course, there have only been five games in the regular season. It is realistically too soon to panic. However, the Twins simply do not look like a team that is capable of competing during the 2026 season.

With that being said, anything can happen. Regardless, Kendry Rojas is a pitcher who can impact the MLB team soon.
