In a statement released by the school, they confirmed that Bailey underwent a successful surgery on Sunday morning and he is expected to make a full recovery. He injured his ankle in the Seminoles' (21-5, 7-1 ACC) 12-11 win over Duke.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Myles for a full, speedy recovery. I have not coached a player with a better combination of work ethic, character, and skill. His application of work allowed Myles to develop into a spectacular player both offensively and at first base," FSU head coach Link Jarrett said. "He has amazing parents, who molded him into a wonderful young man. Our medical team was fully engaged from the moment he was injured. He will recover from this injury and return to his dynamic form."

After an intentional walk, he broke for second base following an errant pickoff attempt. He injured his ankle on the slide and was immediately tended to by medical staff, and had his leg placed in an air-cast before being stretchered off the field.

He was transported to a local hospital after being taken off the field.

Bailey was 2-for-3 with two RBI and three walks in the game. He hit his 13th home run of the season earlier in the game, and the play on which he was injured scored the go-ahead run from third base.

He is a top-100 MLB Draft prospect as a draft-eligible sophomore and was expected to be an early-round draft pick. Bailey has a .337 batting average, 32 home runs, and 89 RBI in two seasons with the program, appearing in 82 of the 84 potential games he could have played, with 81 starts.

Bailey is widely considered one of, if not the best, power hitters in college baseball. It's led to him frequently being intentionally walked as opposing pitchers look to avoid pitching to Bailey, who had 13 home runs in 26 games in his sophomore season.
