Due to a hip injury, Bayern Munich midfielder Aleksandar Pavlović is not reporting to the German national team.

Pavlović was examined on Sunday and Bayern Munich worked with the DFB to determine that it was not worth it to bring up the 21-year-old.

Per Sport Bild journalists Julian Agardi and Christian Falk, Angelo Stiller will replace Pavlović on Julian Nagelsmann’s roster for the upcoming games against Switzerland and Ghana.

Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg added more context on the situation:

🚨❌ Aleksandar #Pavlovic will not travel to the Germany national team for the time being due to injury (problem with his hip).

The decision has now been finalised after further examinations.

The plan is that nothing will be risked, but he should be ready to play again at the latest after the international break. All parties involved coordinated in the last few hours. Pavlovic had hoped that he might still be able to travel.

Pavlović is in the midst of a tremendous season and figures to be an important part of both Bayern Munich’s treble hopes and the German national team’s aspirations for the World Cup. The youngster has been ruthlessly efficient with his passing this season, started his evolution into being more vocal, and provides vital link-up play to help the team transition from defense to offense.

While Pavlović will be missed in the friendlies, this is the correct move for the player. Pavlović will get a solid two weeks to rest and rehab his ailment.
