The NCAA women's hockey National Championship final was another episode of the best rivalry in college hockey as the University of Wisconsin Badgers and Ohio State Buckeyes went toe-to-toe.
In the end it was the Wisconsin Badgers who claimed the 3-2 win to be named back-to-back NCAA champions. It was the ninth win in program history for the Badgers.

Only 1:13 into the game Adela Sapovaliova carried the puck across the high slot before shooting a puck toward the Ohio State net where a waiting Kelly Gorbatenko deflected the puck through Buckeyes' netminder Hailey MacLeod to give Wisconsin an early 1-0 lead.
Before the midway point of the first, Sapovalivova and Gorbatenko connected again, but this time with helpers to Laney Potter who slid in from the blueline and beat MacLeod netfront.
Escaping the first period down 2-0 however, the Ohio State Buckeyes began to chip back. While both Wisconsin's Ava McNaughton and MacLeod were tested in the second, the game went to the third period with Wisconsin still leading 2-0.
In the third period, Hilda Svensson carried the puck into Wisconsin's zone before turning back to find Swedish national team teammate Mira Jungaker. Jungaker took a shot which was redirected by Kassidy Carmichael to pull Ohio State within one.
Only three minutes later, Jocelyn Amos took the puck across the crease and beat an outstretched McNaughton to tie the game 2-2.
With Ohio State continuing to threaten however, Claire Enright walked to the net for the Badgers and bet MacLeod near the far post to reclaim a 3-2 lead for the reigning champion Wisconsin Badgers.
In the dying seconds of the game with the net empty, Ohio State attempted to challenge a call in the crease looking for a glove on the puck similar to the end of last year's national championship game, but the call was unsuccessful causing the Buckeyes to take a penalty and lose their positioning on the ice. It allowed Wisconsin to kill off the final 49 seconds of the game and earn the vitory.
Wisconsin claimed back-to-back national championships with the 3-2 win.
