Broncos Address TE In Mock Draft After Jaylen Waddle Trade

Suddenly, mock drafts for the Denver Broncos look much different.

The Broncos traded away this year's first-round pick (No. 30 overall) as well as a third and a fourth-rounder to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for WR Jaylen Waddle and a fourth-round pick.

So, the Broncos' first and third-rounders are gone, and that leaves them with just a second-round pick in the first two days of the 2026 NFL Draft.

The Dolphins' fire sale continues, and the Broncos add a WR1 to the offense, which needed another playmaker.

That means the Broncos' first pick in the draft will be at No. 62 overall, and Josh Edwards of CBS Sports compiled a new mock following the Waddle trade.

Edwards has them address a big area of need and select Vanderbilt tight end Eli Stowers with the pick.

The mock draft only goes three rounds, so this is the only pick for the Broncos so far.

Here are the rest of the picks the Broncos have after the Waddle trade.

Round 4: Nos. 108 and 111

Round 5: No. 170

Round 7: Nos. 246, 256 and 257

So, they have a total of seven picks, with six of them coming on the final day of the draft.

Eli Stowers Is a Smart Pick

Now, the Broncos need some help at tight end. Evan Engram didn't work out quite as expected after signing a two-year deal last offseason, and while he was mentioned as a cut candidate, he is still part of the roster as of March 20.

Now, the Broncos signed Adam Trautman again, and agreed to one-year deals with  while Nate Adkins and Lucas Krull, but none of them are long-term options, and Trautman seems to be more of a blocker.

Enter Stowers, who is at No. 5 in Bucky Brooks' tight end rankings for the NFL Draft.

Stowers played at New Mexico State before going to Vanderbilt, following Diego Pavia to the Commodores from New Mexico State.

Stowers caught 49 passes for 638 yards and five scores in 2024, and he had 62 receptions for 769 yards with four touchdowns this past season.

Stowers dazzled at the NFL Scouting Combine, setting a tight end record in the broad jump.

And, Stowers broke wild in a loss to Texas, as the tight end caught seven passes for 146 yards and a pair of touchdowns against a top-25 team.

Stowers is exactly the type of player the Broncos could use, and with blocking tight ends on the roster, adding a pass-catcher such as Stowers would be a home run pick.
